Contemporaneity through a different lens

Contemporaneity through a different lens

FENIX® Giallo Evora and Bianco Malé are combined in a kitchen that lives among contemporary and ancient times.

Sarah and David are a creative couple living in historic Lindfield, Sussex. Their home from the front is a quintessential English village tea house, but at the rear, a contemporary extension contains the large open plan kitchen and living space. Inglis Hall designed for them a kitchen and utility room with FENIX® that “soothes a transition, from the old, bridging the respect for vernacular of the village whilst embracing the excitement of the new,” said the architect Gould Baxter.

“From the slate flagstones on the floor to rugged concrete on the countertop and natural soapstone on the kitchen island, each material adds to the timeless, refined design. Even an ancient fresh water well uncovered during the build now forms part of the interior design.

This space is the meeting point of time worn historic beauty blended with contemporary design. Here, Giallo Evora on kitchen doors and Bianco Malé on the laundry’s cabinetry, give a comfortable warm light and colour depth. The two matt, light colours create a beautiful contrast with the old charm of dark stone worktops and flooring.

“FENIX Giallo Evora and Bianco Malé are a combination which imbues timeless elegance with a warm and earthy natural palette. Moreover, as highly durable surfaces, anti-fingerprint, and soft to the touch, they are ideal for contemporary interiors. The matt look and range of colours makes FENIX perfect for interiors in any style of home from period and historic to cool and contemporary,” the architect said.
