Inspired by the Greek myth of the goddess of light, Theia is designed to hold and display precious objects thanks to its distinctive welcoming shape. The object, designed by DWA Design Studio, is a floor lamp and, at the same time, a storage unit which plays its dual role with theatrical elegance. 

“The fascinating duality of Theia elegantly redefines the concept of the floor lamp: a journey into a world where illumination meets functionality,” say designers Frederik De Wachter and Alberto Artesani. “At first glance, it exudes a warm light that envelops the surrounding space, but from up close, its hidden charm becomes apparent: a cabinet ensconced in its recess which offers considerable space to hold objects that deserve attention. Named after the Greek goddess of light, Theia embodies its namesake myth - as goddess of light and guardian of treasures - by reflecting these qualities in its design.”

With its distinctive U-shape, slender yet imposing, Theia demonstrates the brand’s mastery in crafting original shapes by juxtaposing different surfaces. In this case, FENIX^® is combined with Homapal materials, creating a sense of duality through an enchanting contrast of colours and lights. Externally, the lamp has a shell in FENIX^® Viola Orissa - a noble and mysterious hue - whilst internally, the reflective finish of Homapal^®’s Plex Copper creates a colour contrast which adds depth to the design.

DWA Design Studio was founded by Frederik De Wachter and Alberto Artesani in 2005 in Milan, driven by the idea that two – though very different – heads can lead through unexpected paths. Today, their office relies on a few more heads and hands, but the basic is there, turned into a multidisciplinary reality. Their aim is to intertwine the world of design with fashion, and lifestyle: from interiors to exhibitions, from retail to art direction, up to product research. Their projects cover public spaces (in which to live, relax, and share), concept stores, or shop windows. They also create sets, installations, and site-specific works for temporary exhibitions, turning them into creative solutions to avail their customers’ needs.
