Spotlight on the ‘sunny’ design of kitchens made with FENIX® NTA in Acciaio Hamilton
Part of the range of enhanced metal surfaces, FENIX® NTA Acciaio Hamilton stands out thanks to its subtly shiny appearance. This characteristic lends the material’s distinctive matt look an attractive gleam, as if gently lit by a sunbeam.
Take a closer look at the horizontal and vertical applications of Acciaio Hamilton in two kitchens designed by Italian companies: design firm Very Simple Kitchen and manufacturer Abitacolo Interni.
Kitchen by Very Simple Kitchen
Design firm REdDUO - which strikes a balance between traditional craftsmanship and modern aesthetics - designed an island kitchen made of dark wood with rounded edges for Very Simple Kitchen. At its heart is a majestic, monolithic centrepiece that combines the contemporary feel of minimalistic design with echoes of ancient rural living. To add a sense of warmth and light, they opted for a FENIX NTA worktop in Acciaio Hamilton as a winning alternative to classic metal surfaces. Extremely matt, yet with an unmistakable sheen, the worktop perfectly encapsulates the sense of cosy conviviality conveyed by the curved lines and natural feel of the wood, matching the material’s robustness with its exceptional durability. FENIX NTA surfaces are especially suitable for horizontal applications as they are anti-fingerprint and allow the user to repair superficial micro-scratches. Very Simple Kitchen’s creation in Acciaio Hamilton conjures up all the idyllic romance of a cottage surrounded by nature, bathed in the soft light of the countryside in summer.
“We work with FENIX every day when designing worktops for our kitchens, so we know the product and its many qualities intimately. For a kitchen of this type, we needed to use a material that could be machined for the rounded edges that characterise the design, making the distinction between worktop and structure imperceptible. So naturally, our first thought was to go for a FENIX product that is perfectly suited to sitting on top of a plywood base, and we opted for Acciaio Hamilton to lend the worktop a touch of elegance, a textured feel and exceptional performance,” explains Very Simple Kitchen.

Cabinet by Abitacolo Interni
In an elegant home kitchen with a sophisticated yet minimalistic feel - created by Italian company Abitacolo Interni in partnership with architecture firm White Architetti - FENIX NTA in Acciaio Hamilton has been used for the doors of a cabinet/sideboard unit that is integrated into the wall. A sizeable vertical application that brings light into the room, harmoniously bridging the gap between the lighter tone of the parquet and the darker wood and marble used for the kitchen itself.
“Our clients were looking for a special surface, something reminiscent of a material as unique as steel, but which also had characteristics making it practical to use. They were immediately taken with our suggestion of FENIX NTA in Acciaio Hamilton as a complementary material and it was love at first sight, so they decided to use it for the entire wall of kitchen units,” says the Abitacolo Interni team. The enhanced metal surface takes on a central role, offering the user visual as well as tactile comfort along the entire wall, thanks to its soft-touch feature.
When incorporated into an open-plan space defined by earthy tones such as greys and browns, the island kitchen stands out with darker shades between the lounge and the veranda, flooded with copious amounts of natural light. Thanks to its gentle glow, Acciaio Hamilton accentuates the brightness of the design around it whilst still conveying the relaxed feel of a soft, peaceful aesthetic. “The final effect creates a background brimming with character that contrasts with the dark tones of the central island,” says Abitacolo Interni.
